"ameno" means heavenly.

She was the original dancer.

In Japan, God of the Sun is godess "Amaterasu".

Her brother "Susano-o" was a roudy fellow.
He killed Amaterasu's servant.

Amaterasu got angry with him.
She shut lock herself up in "amenoiwato".

Because Godess of Sun shut lock herself,
the world was cover with complete darkness.

Gods and godesses were troubled.
And they took counsel together.

Gods and godesses gave a party in front of "amenoiwato"

Then, Amenouzume danced marvelously.

Gods and godesses gage her a cheer.
And at last, Amaterasu went out for seeing her dance.

She was brave, too.

When her master "Ninigi" went to Ashiharanakatukuni,
a giant of a man "Sarutahiko" stood in Ninigi's way.
Ninigi was afraid.

Then Amenouzume went to Sarutahiko,
and said to him, "get away".

After all, Amenouzume got married to Sarutahiko.

Amenouzume's another name is "Sarume".
The name means lady of monkey.
